The two volumes of The Social Dimension present a comprehensive survey of the major developments in social psychology which took place in Europe during the very active 1970s and 1980s. They aim to capture the diversity and vitality of the discipline, stress the growing emphasis on fully social analyses of social psychological phenomena - hence 'the social dimension' - and to provide a valuable resource for researchers in the future. Although comprehensive in scope, the volumes are not written in the formal style of a reference handbook. Instead, the authors of the thirty-three chapters, drawn from more than a dozen mainly European countries and all experts in their own fields, were invited to present their own personal overviews of the issues in social psychology on which they were actively working. Both volumes are organized into three main Parts. Volume 1 is concerned with the social development of the child, interpersonal communication and relationships, and the social reality, group processes, and intergroup relations. This ambitious enterprise has produced a distinctive yet authoritative summary and evaluation of the growth points of social psychology in Europe which will interest and influence not only social psychologists but many readers from related disciplines.

How Many Elephants?: A Lift-The-Flap Counting Book
Pay no attention to the elephants dancing behind you! The running visual joke in this lift-the-flap counting book will provoke more giggles with every new number.
Let's count things.
How many elephants
are in your closet?
Well, as every child knows, that's a silly question! See, no elephants in here! Zero! Let's get on to more reasonable things to count: shoes behind the curtain, markers in the box, toy dinosaurs in the drawer. And no, there are still no elephants in the closet -- though someone seems to have left a trail of peanut shells in there.

On Sarah Whitfield's seventy-fifth birthday, memories take her back to New York in the 1930s. To a marriage that ends after a year, leaving Sarah shattered. A trip to Europe with her parents does little to raise her spirits, until she meets William, Duke of Whitfield. In time, despite her qualms, William insists on giving up his distant right to the British throne to make Sarah his dutchess and his wife.
On their honeymoon, the newlyweds buy an old French chateau, but not long after, the war begins. William joins the allied forces, leaving Sarah, their first child, an infant, and their second child on the way, in France. After the Nazi forces take over the chateau, Sarah continues to survive the terror and deprivation of the Occupation, unwavering in her belief that her missing-in-action husband is still alive.
After the war, as a gesture of goodwill, the Whitfields start buying jewels offered for sale by impoverished war survivors. With Sarah's style and keen eye, the collection...

The Iron City: Poems by John Bensko, ISBN 0252068718
These vivid narrative and lyrical poems focus on scenes and characters from the coal and steel producing regions of Alabama, an unlikely but rich source for meditations on the hidden emotions of our lives.
The iron city is a world in which a child and the people around him are trapped in the mystery of their surroundings, trying to reach toward love, understanding, and clarity. Acclaimed poet John Bensko creates powerful images of enclosed spaces, both physical and emotional, and of the surprising radiance they evoke. Through the central metaphor of a raw material that contains both its history ("Memory of delicate / Ferns, leaves, bones of fishes") and its future ("Coal, the rock that burns"), The Iron City explores the chasm between child and adult, musing over veins depleted, resources misused, and the glint of promise deep underground.
